To protect our companion animals and native fauna, we strongly promote desexing, microchipping, and vaccinations. All animals rehomed through Aotearoa Animal Refuge are checked for microchips and their health records updated to ensure a safe transition to their new homes.

At Aotearoa Animal Refuge, we handle found animals with the utmost care and professionalism. When an animal is found, our first priority is to check for microchips and search for their owners through local networks and community databases. Animals are held safely in a secure environment while we undertake this search.
If an owner cannot be located, rehoming is performed responsibly, ensuring each animal finds a safe and permanent home. We strongly advocate for preventative care to keep animals safe in our community through desexing, microchipping, and regular health checks.
